Cafeteria
The cafeteria of Piffle Princess shop is not an example of a generic fast food establishment - rather, like everything else in here, it keeps in style. Three tables are scattered around the room, and there's a couple of bar stools too, but the important thing is the menu. Displayed on bright panels above the counter, it almost exclusively consists of pastries, ice-cream, soft drinks and candy.
The whole cafeteria section is about a floor above the Angelic Layer Training center, and sometimes people look down onto the Layers over the railing at the edge.
For whatever reason, the cafeteria's not very busy today. Which may explain why no one's seemed to notice Saneko. She's seated at one of the tables, slumped forward with her head down, using her bag as a makeshift pillow. She's quite obviously asleep.
The boy who practically lives here walks into the cafeteria with his packed baggy of food. He heads into the cafe a few steps before looking around. He has the choice of every seat here…mwahahaa…but no. He sights Saneko and his choices become limited. The green haired misfit walks over to the girl and slows when he realizes that she's alseep. Hmm…what to do here? He stops and starts taking out all his food from his brown baggy. Then, he begins blowing the baggy with air and pinches off the end. He starts stepping forward slowly…raising the disapproval of one of the staff members who begins to say something…but stops. Kino will be a boy from time to time.
Saneko remains asleep, looking peaceful and cute and completely unexpecting of anything.
And up comes Kino with his mischief…and he slams the bag into his free hand. *BOOOOM* It echos in the room. Even some of the staff jump.
The noise is more than enough to wake the girl. She jumps a bit, then falls off her chair and onto the floor. Blinking, she leans forward, bracing herself with her hands as she tries to get her barings. There's a shake of her head, and she looks around. When she sees Kino, she grins - but it quickly shifts into a smile. "Kino-kun!"
Kino is too busy laughing. He's gone down to the floor on his backside as well…so he's probably at her eye level. "Go….Go…Gomen Saneko-san!" He continues to laugh, obviously pleased with himself. "I, couldn't…help it!" He slowly starts to calm down and asks…"You okay?"
Saneko giggles, and nods. "Yep." That grin appears again, and she looks to the chair she had been sitting in before laughing, herself. Then, she looks back to him, giving that bright smile and canting her head. "I was looking for you, nyo."
Sauntering into the cafeteria with Nanako hot on his heels, Kaijie looks pretty full of himself, despite a losing streak of… three in the tournament. Confident, carefree and nonchalant, he is in his usual mood. Devil-may-care grin on his face, Kaijie shuffles in with his usual Puma bag. Everything about him is usual… except that it's a day off for Kaijie and he's out of his Eriol Gakuen uniform. Wearing an attitude-a-licious black tangzhuang (Chinese men's jacket) with red snake and dragon decals, he points towards the front of the cafeteria and flashes a thumbs-up. "What do you want? Beef ramen?"
Kino and Saneko are seated on the floor…and both look as if they are just finishing laughing. The staff are at their stations with a look of mixed amusement and disapproval. Next to Kino is a brown paper bag that looks as if it exploded. The cafeteria is rather empty…but seeing as the two are on the floor, Kaijie and Nanako /may/ miss them.
Nanako follows along at Kaijie's side, poking a finger at the boy's shoulder. "Cool jacket. Lemme borrow it sometime," she remarks, looking vaguely towards the cafeteria line and nodding. "Yeah, sure," she assents, fishing in her back pocket and counting out a few en bills. "There, that oughta be enough."
Kino grins and moves to stand up, albeit slowly…"You have been looking for me? Oh no. What did I do now?" He snickers and then takes a seat. He reaches down for the dead bag and then starts collecting his food from the table next to them.
Saneko hops up to her feet and takes a seat, as well. "I dunno. What /did/ ya' do now, nyo?" She giggles, then smiles. "Just was, nyo." She nods.
"Sure. No problem." Kaijie tips his head towards Nanako and then turns to make his way towards the front of the cafeteria. It's not when Kaijie comes in that he notices the two. Tall People (TM) have a different point of view compared to other Short People (TM). They see things on the shoulders of giants. In fact, they are giants themselves. Kaijie's pretty damn tall in Japan, but then again, he's gaijin. He came from the same city as the infamous Yao Ming (7'5"). Towering above all, he barely notices the two kids seated on the floor… until, that is, he nearly trips over Kino and stumbles to the side, smacking his shin into a table leg.
Boy, is he in pain.
Nanako follows mutely along, scanning the cafeteria with the look of the perpetually alert. Kaijie only has a few inches on her- Nanako is decidedly tall for a nihonjin, having absorbed some of her hulking father's height, if not girth. As Kaijie collides with the floor-borne Kino, Nanako moves to swift action, catching him on the shoulder and supporting him upright. "Whoa, you okay?" she asks, promptly glaring down at the source of the obstacle. "Jackass," she growls vaguely at Kino, but then furrows her brow as she sees Saneko sitting nearby. "Hey, kiddo," she greets, rather more gently but still registering some disapproval. "You shouldn't sit on the floor in a place like this."
Kino watches as the boy starts going down…and there's not entirely much that he can do to help him…except point and laugh. Oh, what a good kid. "You okay Kaijie-san?" He continues to laugh though. He can't help it, people hurting themselves like that is funny. Nanako's snatching Kaijie out of the air though is interesting enough. The Jackass is most definitely warranted, "Beautiful," he responds back. Kino was on his way up when Kaijie tripped over him…and so he protests, "You should watch where you're going…"
The money is handed back. "Nana-chan, I…" Kaijie turns to Kino and raises an eyebrow, before grunting. "I'm not in the mood for the Seafood Special anymore," he moans, before staggering back towards the entrance. Well, there goes another great day.
Kaijie shows himself the door as he saunters through, sticking out his tongue. Nanako escorts Kaijie out and gives him a ride home or something.
Saneko blinks a few times, picking up her bag where it had landed when her fall pulled it down. "Ano … hi?" She blinks again as the two suddenly decide to leave. Her brow furrows slightly as she thinks she's seen the one before, and does recognize the other as someone she'd actually met properly … but she has some trouble placing either. So, she just shakes her head, looking confused.
Kino just stares off after the two and shakes his head. "She's all bark and no bite…and when she doesn't get her way she cries and moans and then disappears." He sighs, "People like that annoy me." The boy has obviously had dealings with Nanako before.
Saneko cants her head, biting her lip while trying to think. Ah, well. Doesn't really matter. She smiles to Kino, leaning forward on the table a bit. "They're both gone now, nyo." She reaches out and pokes his arm. "So is all okay, ne?"
Kino nods, "All is always okay ne?" He doesn't really seem to get the question. "Why wouldn't all be okay?" He reaches out and attempts to fuzzle Saneko's hair. "Silly girl."
Saneko giggles as he musses her hair. "Good!" She smiles quite brightly, not answering his second question. Then, she bites her lip lightly and cants her head. She still seems to be thinking about something.
Kino stares at Saneko and tilts his head…"And you Saneko-san? Is everything okay with you?" His eyes narrow in a worried questioning glance.
Saneko sticks her tongue out at him. "A'course everything's good with me, nyo!" Another bright smile. "Why call me that, nyo?"
Kino shakes his head, "Because something seems to be worrying you a bit. You sure you don't want to talk about anything at all? Kino-san is always here to talk to!" He chuckles and begins eating the food that was in his bag. "Caw ou hat?" He says with a stuffed mouth. When he swallows he asks, "Saneko-san?"
Saneko nods, emphatically. "Yeah. None of my good friends call me by my actual name, nyo, and almost nobody calls me -san, even people who aren't really friends." She giggles a little. "And I'm not worried 'bout anything, just thinking 'bout stuff, nyo."
Kino starts thinking of things and finally states, "Well, what do your friends call you then? I suppose I can call you something else." He shrugs then and there and goes back to shoving food in his mouth. "I am pretty much just called Kino…"
Saneko grins, then smiles. "I'm called lots and lots of things, nyo. Sane-chan, Sa-chan, Neko-chan, Koneko-chan, Bakasane, Misa-chan, Ko-chan, Saneki, Sa-cchi, Neko-cchi, Saneru …" She stops, thinking for a minute. "Yeah, I think that's about all of them." A giggle, canting her head. "I think, anyway."
There's a blank stare from Kino as she lists off everything that people call her. "Ano, how do you know you're being called with so many names for people to address you with?" He blinks and then chuckles, "Chiyo!" He stares at Saneko for a moment and then asks, "Do you know who that is?"
Saneko giggles. "It's not so hard to tell when someone's talking to me, nyo." She leans forward on the table again, propping herself up with her elbow. She's not sitting properly at all - her feet are tucked under her in the seat. "Chiyo? Nu-uh, I don't know a Chiyo …"
Kino smiles and states, "Well..when I was younger…my mother used to read to me. Her favorite stories were those concerning performers…and her favorite of favorites…was 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. The little girl…is Chiyo." He grins. "You are a little geisha…therefore I shall call you Chiyo!"
Saneko giggles, smiling quite brightly. "Okay! I like that, nyo!" She sits back, with a little squeak, closing her eyes momentarily with the smile. She looks like she'd just been given quite the huge complement.
Kino nods once emphatically, "Good. Chiyo…I like it too." He snickers and goes back to stuffing his mouth. "You sure then you don't have anything to talk about Chiyo?"
Saneko giggles, her smile shifting into a grin. "I have lots of things to talk about, nyo." It seems like she's about to continue, but then the grin is pushed back into a smile.
Kino nods his head and is about to open his mouth when one of the Angelic Layer staff comes over to him. Apparently he did something earlier in the bathroom that needs some cleaning. "I was just trying to fish that cherry bomb out of the toilet…I swear!" He states innocently enough. The guy nods and just rolls his eyes…bringing Kino with him. "Woops heh. I'll talk to you later Chiyo!" He smiles and runs off.
